Many consultants out there designing AV systems know AV and many of them have years and years of experience and walls full of certifications, but they aren't responsible for the end result.  They draw lines on paper, and then blame the installers or programmers when the system doesn't do what they said it would.  Often times they simply aren't capable to deliver the end result.  Many consultants cannot program a system so while they think a part of their design should work, they aren't actually able to deliver on their idea and they don't know how it would be done or if it can be done because they don't actually do it.  They have to rely on the programmers and installers.
